The therapeutic process can be related to a journey. As in any expedition, the traveler will have times of hardship and times of revelation. The end result is made up of things experienced and learned along the way. Things are left behind and healing though growth occurs. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and adults. I have over 10 years of experience working with such issues as depression, postpartum depression, grief, anxiety, behavioral issues, and trauma. I believe that therapeutic treatment offers the opportunity to achieve personal growth and self-discovery in a safe and private environment. My theoretical orientation as a counselor is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which means that I will collaboratively work with you toward realization of how your thoughts impact your feelings and behaviors. I also have extensive training in expressive and art therapies, holding a Masters of Science in Art Therapy, and I include elements of art therapy in my approach, where art is used as a bridge to enable the expression of emotions when verbalization may be difficult. Other modalities applied are play therapy and mindfulness techniques. I believe that each client in unique and that therapy should be tailored to meet the needs of each individual.
